Marklin SLR 700 from 1937 Version 1. Very good condition. Quite rare locomotive with good metal and NO zincpest. Paint is still very good and tender is original, “SLR 700”. Rare early locomotive tested and runs perfectly…the best I have seen!

R700A export model for USA. Version 5 with Cow Catcher. Metal is excellent and paint is very good. Tested and runs well with lights functioning properly. Cow Catcher is original to the locomotive. Original tender with slight rusting on wheels.
Included is a handmade, replica box for the Marklin R 700 A. No parts of the box are original except for lid staples. Built to original specifications.

Here are two catalogs from the early production of HO scale in the years 1936 / 1937. Both catalogs for the USA market. A two page pricelist and letter from the 1930s to USA customers of Richard Marklin Toys also seen below.

The S873/1 set was produced for a very limited time in 1953. This set seen here has the production run on the box as follows: “YN 1253 j – S 873/1 – 100/5”. This number is seen on the inside cover of the lid of the box, printed on the instruction sheet. This set normally would include 327/2 ROT (red) cars (2 per set) along with several pieces of curved track specially designed for the clockwork locomotive. The S870 locomotive was the first and only HO scale clockwork locomotive that Marklin produced. The original key is not often seen in sets available today, but was used to wind up the locomotive springs for running. These keys are hard to find in today’s market. This set is also missing the original cardboard insert that would keep the trains from moving around in the box.
